The Pests Will Control!
A downloadable game for Windows
This game is made for the 48-hour GMTK 2023 game jam. The theme was Roles Reversed.
*This game is in a barely completeable state, you can lose, you can win, but there's a lot of graphical issues and physics problems and only 1 stage. Keep it in mind if you plan on downloading*
I had the idea: What if it was the protagonists that were reversed? What if, instead of man vs nature, we are controlling the nature? So I thought to myself, "Who is the biggest jerk in the animal kingdom?" The Hornet sprung to mind. I had a few other ideas, and eventually I want this game to be more about managing multiple types of insects as they eat, nest, and breed to the chagrin of cats, homeowners, and the silent stealthy ninja-like killer: The Pest Control guy...
Most of the mechanics were scrapped due with a lot to be desired but I think it has promise. I plan on at least working on this to get it to be where I want it to be since most of the engine is done and I can actually do the fun parts.
I really wanted to show this off but I have to face the fact that a man has to sleep and that Gamemaker is really ungodly awful a lot of the time. (Seriously, why does a function meant to get the unique IDs of an object also return a system flag as a negative integer instead of just crashing?) Anyways, 100% blame goes on them for the incompleteness of this project.
Known bugs:
All of them.

Intriguing. Click a hornet & then right click to tell it where to go. Not sure what else to do?
I'm not really sure what I just played but it felt goo
I still want to update this again after my brain leaves it's delirious, sleep deprived state.
